Kingswinford 7 - 1 Aston University
Goal scorers: Sarj Takhar, Daman Johal, Matt Edwards 5
Kingswinford entertained Aston University students at the Dell in
this West Mids BodyKraft League 2 fixture. Sarj Takhar opened the
scoring for Kings with a brilliant turn and shot from 'd' top. Daman
Johal added a second with a deft touch to a defence splitting pass
from AJ Sandhu. Thereafter it was the Matt Edwards show. Matt scored
5 excellent goals which have propelled him to the top scorers chart.
There were some good saves from Giles Pargeter to restrict Aston
to just 1 goal. Man of match Matt Edwards. Skipper Sonny Matharu
commented "That was a brilliant result. The next few weeks
are vital for us especially with the injury sustained to Harpreet
Hundal. He is out for the next 5 weeks and we will miss him".
2nd Team (Match report by Sharm Dhaliwal)
Kynoch 2 - 2 Kingswinford
Goal scorers: Hari Singh, Charlie Norman
The 2nds travelled to the UCE Sports Grounds in Perry Bar, in a
positive mood confident of making amends for the previous weeks’
disastrous outing. However, Kynoch took a surprising lead against
the run of play when a hopeful shot in the “D” was deflected
in by a hapless defender. The 2nds responded quickly by increasing
the tempo and equalised via a penalty corner when Sharm Dhaliwal
drew the defence before slipping the ball to Hari Singh who calmly
slotted the ball home. K’ford kept up the pressure and was
rewarded with a second goal resulting from a direct hit by Charlie
Norman from another penalty corner. K’ford kept up the pressure
in the second half, but couldn’t turn their dominance into
goals and were punished, when a Kynoch counter attack was cleverly
touched into goal past a stranded Chris Rawlings. Overall, the team
felt that they had thrown away 2 points and it is back to the drawing
board before next weeks’ visit to high flying West Bromwich.
