The first half began with the away side having the best of the early exchanges, with good possession, skills and movement. As the game progressed it was K'ford who looked most likely to open the scoring. Midway through the first half, following two successive short corners, it was Liam who had the best opportunity to break the deadlock. At the other end, it was Dan who kept his concentration with a fine save, following Wednesbury's quick break. However on the stoke of half time, K'fords pressure led to a scramble in the D, with Cam having the final touch to open the scoring.

Following the interval, the game continued with the visitors looking to extend their lead. After 10 minutes, Liam's pass found Jamie in space, who's run and clean strike doubled the lead. Wednesbury were now looking to get back into the game. Following a quick counter attack, Dan produced a fine double save to deny the home side. K'ford added a third following good link up play between Jamie and Cam, allowing Aman to fire home from close range. With five minutes remaining, Wednesbury were rewarded for their efforts. Their first strike was saved by Dan, then following a block on the line, the third attempt found the net. K'ford produced a good all-round team performance as well as some fine individual displays.

Both sides fielded teams with a mixture of youth and experience. After five minutes the visitors took the lead when Cam's pass found Ethan in space allowing him to score from close range. Two short corners followed in quick succession, both taken by Liam. Jamie's first effort was blocked, but his second strike found the net, increasing their lead. The home side continued to have good spells of possession, keeping K'fords defence busy, using both long penetrating and short passes to good effect.

Half Time - Wolverhampton 0 Kingswinford 2

Wolves started the second period confidently, and after ten minutes were awarded their first short corner which was again well defended. Wolves continued to attack as a pack, but were unable to break down K'fords defence. After 20 minutes it was once again the away side who increased their lead. A good interchange of passes between Jamie, Aaron, Cam and Ethan allowed him to score his second of the game from a tight angle. The home side continued to be a threat, with Dan blocking their effort from a short corner. With the last action from the game, K'ford added a fourth. A fine run and reverse pass from Liam picked out Ethan in space, who made no mistake and completed his hat trick.

Kinswinford began a new era with their first home game at the new venue. With both teams fielding young squads, they started timidly. As the game began to open up, the home side won the battle of the early exchanges and on five minutes, mounted the first meaningful attack of the game. This resulted in a short corner, and Jamie's clean strike being well saved. As the game continued, West Brom's confidence grew and their probing counter attacks were keeping the defence busy. Liam's quick breaks from defence were causing problems at the other end, with Cam and Jack both coming close to scoring. Shortly afterwards K'ford were forced into an early change in the heart of defence, with Chris being replaced by Jo. Harry also began to feature in midfield, linking up well with his team mates. The home side continued to attack and caused problems for West Brom's defence, and on the stroke of half time, their perseverance was rewarded when Seth netted from close range.

The second half commenced with the family trio of Liam, Cara and Jo moving the ball swiftly, and the midfield stepping up a gear. All the players thrived on the new surface, showing good skills and technique. After ten minutes, a long ball from Liam at the heart of defence, found Ethan in space, who ran and squared the ball to Cam who scored from close range, doubling K'fords lead. K'ford continued to control the game with all the younger players growing in confidence. On 20 minutes, following a fine solo run, Cam added his second and K'fords third goal of the match. In the closing stages, further chances followed, with both Jack and Harry coming close.

Finchfield 1 - 0 Kingswinford

Squad - Tim, Chris, Tom, Cara, Aaron, Liam, Jamie, Cam, Seth, Jack

Both teams started positively, showing good skills and movement, combining well in the midfield and backed up by solid defending. The home side created the earlier chances putting K'fords defence under pressure, however after 15 minutes, it was the visitors who came the closest to opening the scoring. Following a break from midfield, Cam found Liam in space and his resultant shot was just wide. A succession of short corners followed which K'ford were unable to convert. The home side now began to dominate possession and keep K'fords defence busy. At the other end, Aaron was denied from close range, by a fine save from Finchfield's keeper. Shortly afterwards, Finchfield took the lead, just before half time.

Half time score : Finchfield 1 - Kingswinford 0

K'ford started the second half on the attack, with both Jack and Aaron coming close to scoring. More attacks followed, and next to be denied was Liam. With Finchfield always a threat, Tim and Chris were both being kept busy at the heart of K'fords defence. In the midfield, Cam, Jamie and Seth were all combining well and providing good opportunities for Jack and Aaron. As the half came to a close, K'ford continued to have good possession, but were unable to find a way through the home sides resiliant defence. On the balance of play, a draw would have been a fair result, but Finchfield held on to their one goal advantage.

K'ford once again fielded a young squad and both teams started competitively, with the away side having the better of the opening exchanges. K'fords midfield were battling in the early stages, but were unable to create any significant scoring opportunities. Their first real chance, on 15 minutes, came from a short corner, but Jamie's shot was well saved. Shortly afterwards, Lichfield took the lead on 20 minutes. They were awarded a short corner and subsequently made no mistake. The game now began to open up with both sides moving the ball quickly and creating chances. With K'ford pushing for an equaliser it was Seth who came closest, but was denied on two occasions. The action continued at a fast pace as the half drew to a close.

Half Time : Kingswinford 0 - Lichfield 1

After 5 minutes, Lichfield extended their lead following a quick break and good strike. As their confidence grew, they continued to find space and exposed K'fords defence. However, after 15 minutes, it was K'ford who pulled a goal back with good link up play between Jamie and Cam, who finished the move. The action continued with both sides playing entertaining hockey. Following a short corner, the home side were denied an equaliser as Cam's effort was dis-allowed. At the same time, Lichfield were always a threat on the counter attack. Both sides were displaying good skills and contributed to an entertaining match. As the half drew to a close, K'ford were unable to draw level.

K'fords second friendly fixture of the half term break was again away from home. Both teams started very timidly - the early exchanges were contested with both midfields struggling to create clear cut chances. As the game progressed, it was the home side who had the most possession, showing good skills and movement. However, on six minutes, it was K'ford who took the lead. A quick break from the midfield allowed Jamie to run on and score from close range. Shortly afterwards, Yardley were back on level terms, cancelling out K'fords opening goal. The game now began to open up, with both sides moving the ball quickly, with K'fords defence the busier of the two teams.

Half time : Yardley 1 Kingswinford 1

The second half began with K'ford on the attack. They were awarded successive short corners, but were unable to convert, with the shots well blocked. After ten minutes, against the run of play, the home side took the lead with a fine strike from close range. As Yardley's confidence continued to grow, they maintained good possession and kept K'fords defence under pressure. K'ford now began to counter and look for the equaliser with frequent attacks. The midfield were beginning to create openings and put Yardley's defence under strain. As the game opened up, both sides were now creating chances. As the match was nearing its end, it was K'ford who levelled and got their just reward - following good work from Cam, who found Sophie in front of goal allowing her to convert. In the final stages, both sides continued to strive for a winner without success. On reflection, a draw was a fair result, with both teams playing good competitive hockey.

With a break in the regular fixtures, K'ford accepted a friendly invitation travelling to Worcester University. It was an opportunity for Tim to give valuable match experience with a squad featuring young players. The early stages of the match were played out in the centre of the field, with both sides struggling to create goal scoring opportunities. On 15 minutes, it was the home side who created the first clear cut chance of the game with the shot going just wide. Worcester continued to press, keeping K'fords defence busy, as well as Dan in goal. K'fords best chance fell to Jack, after good work from Cam, but he was unable to get the shot on target. However, it was the home side that took the lead on 30 minutes, following a short corner. As their confidence grew, the home side were enjoying their best spell of the game and shortly before the end of the half, they added a second.

Half time - Worcester 2 Kingswinford 0

The second half began positively with both Liam and Cam creating early chances. With the home side moving the ball quickly, K'ford were having to defend and repel their fluent attacks. After 20 minutes, Worcester's persistence was rewarded with a fine third goal. Both sides continued to play good hockey with their young squads enjoying a competitive match. As the game was nearing its end, K'ford were rewarded for their efforts. A short corner taken by Tim, was controlled by Jamie on the edge of the D, and his shot gave the keeper no chance.

Streetly 6 - 1 Kingswinford

Squad - Tim, Aman, Tom, Surjit, Cam, Jamie, Will, Seth, Martin.

K'ford began their away campaign with a trip to Streetly. Tim continued with a 4-4-2 formation and strengthened the defence with the experienced Surj. The home side started confidently with fluent attacks and took the lead on five minutes. They were awarded a penalty corner, which resulted with a deflected shot, hitting the top corner. As the half continued, K'ford were finding it difficult to break out of their own half - with Surj and Tim in the heart of defence, being kept very busy. K'fords first opportunity fell to Cam, after a good run from Will, however his shot was just wide. Following another counter attack, Surj broke out of defence and found Jamie in space, whose control and run split the defence and finished the move with a low shot into the bottom corner, bringing the scores level after 25 minutes. On the stroke of half time, against the run of play, K'ford fell behind once again after a quick break and fine solo effort.

Half time : Streetly - 2 Kingswinford - 1

The second half started with K'ford once again coming under increased pressure and after five minutes, Streetly increased their lead with a close range strike. Despite the difficult circumstances, K'ford continued to battle and work hard as a team, but following another well worked move, the home side scored a fourth. With the defence beginning to tire, the home side added two quick goals in the last five minute period. However, all the team continued to work hard and gave 100% to the final whistle.

The season opener was a home fixture at The Dell Stadium against Wolverhampton. Both teams were evenly matched in the early stages. As the game began to open up, K'fords midfield were finding space and linking up well. The home side took the lead after seven minutes, after good work from Cam, who found Martin in space allowing him to finish from close range. K'ford extended their lead after nine minutes following a quick break from midfield. Jamie and Will combined well, and after both having shots saved, the ball fell once again to Martin who made no mistake. Wolverhampton continued to battle and look for openings, but as the half came to a close, it was K'ford who were creating the better of the chances.

Half time : Kingswinford 2 - Wolverhampton 0

K'ford started the second half on the attack, with both Seth and Ethan creating opportunities. After both of them having shots blocked, the ball fell to Martin, who completed his hat trick three minutes into the half. The midfield continued to dominate. Whilst Wolves were a constant threat on the counter attack. K'ford added a fourth goal, after good work from Jamie and Cam allowing Ethan to score from close range after 22 minutes. Following Wolves first short corner of the match, the away side pulled a goal back, which was just rewards for their efforts. Both teams continued to attack, but neither side could add to the score.
