1st/2nd Team (Match Report by Amo Sian)
Bournville 6 - 8 Kingswinford
Goal scorers: Billy Jawanda (3), Surjit Takhar (2), Ajay Sandhu (2), Alex Gutteridge

Kingswinford travelled to prestigious club Bournville for a late 5pm push back in the Club’s final seniors friendly. Kingswinford’s whole recent history was epitomised in this match. There were late arrivals, poor play, excellent play, poor team bonding, excellent team bonding and super social after the match. With 15 players available, Sharm Dhaliwal was given the responsibility to ensure everybody was substituted evenly and he carried this task out. Bournville took the lead early on and scored a second to make it 2-0 within ten minutes. It was only then that Kingswinford were shook out of their somber mood and defenders Amo Sian and Lubby Ram made some vital tackles. They were supported excellently by Billy Sandhu and Kuli Toora on the wing back positions. An attack started from midfield allowed Sonny Matharu to find right winger, Kaz Purewal who crossed for young Alex Gutteridge to slot home. Super veteran Billy Jawanda made it 2-2 after coolly converting a short corner. Kingswinford then took their foot off the pedal all over the pitch and Bournville were clinical in their punishment finding the net twice to make it 4-2. Ajay Sandhu then weaved his magic and scored two sublime goals, including an excellent solo effort going past four players, to make it 4-4 at half time. The start of the second half was slow by Kingswinford again, and this allowed Bournville to score two further goals to make it 6-4. There was then a realisation amongst K’ford that the final game was slipping beyond them and final push produced a brilliant 15 minute performance as good as any from a K’ford side! Kuldip Randhawa put Surjit Takhar through however his shot was tame. Takhar made no mistake two minutes later as Ajay Sandhu skipped past four challenges and crossed for Takhar to tap home. Jawanda made the score 6-6 after picking up a 1-2 with Purewal and hammering a shot into the back of the net from D Top. Jawanda with a mesmerising run then put a through ball to Takhar, who rounded the keeper and hit a power shot into the goal to make it 6-7 to K’ford. The icing on the cake was a run by Ajay Sandhu and a cross to Jawanda who took the ball in his stride and hammered his hat-trick past the stranded home goal keeper. Final score 6-8 to K’ford. Men of the Match: Tim Sanders, Dulla Sandhu, Amo Sian, Lubby Ram. Kuli Toora, Billy Sandhu, Sonny Matharu, Ajay Sandhu, Billy Jawanda, Surjit Takhar, Kaz Purewal, Hari Singh, Alex Gutteridge, Kuldip Randhawa. Farewell to all K’ford players, fans and admirers. The Club has had the greatest collection of characters from the Hockey Fraternity for over 47 Years and a rich history to be proud of.

1st Team (Match Report by Sonny Matharu)
Bridgnorth 2 - 6 Kingswinford
Goal scorers: Billy Jawanda (2), Ajay Sandhu (2), Gavi Singh (2)

Kingswinford faced a very strong and young Bridgnorth 2nd's and 3rd's mixed team. The Hosts took the game to Kingswinford. After ten minutes it was 1-0 to Bridgnorth. Kingswinford stalwart Surjit Takhar then twisted through two players and won a short corner which Billy Jawanda coolly converted. AJ Sandhu passed a super through ball to Gavi Singh to flick home and it was 2-1. The second half saw goals rain in as AJ Sandhu ran the show with some sublime skills. Sandhu scored a brace and set-up one each for Jawanda and Gavi Singh. There were some excellent performances from Richard Brown, Lubby Ram and Andy Cutler too. Man of the Man AJ Sandhu. Next week a 5pm start for the last friendly for Kingswinford 1st's prior to the League Start.

2nd Team (Match Report by Taran Singh)
Kingswinford 1 - 1 Sikh Union Coventry
Goal scorer: Billy Jawanda

Kingswinford fielded a mixed bag team today against a young but strong Coventry Sikh Union 2nd XI. The home team had the early pressure and won a number of short corners. A lack of match practice showed as these were shot either off target or injected incorrectly. The best chance of the match fell to Billy Jawanda after he picked up a reverse pass from Surjit Takhar. Jawanda's shot went inches wide of the near post. The second half saw K’ford pass the ball quicker and some good moves were created via defenders Billy Sandhu, Dulla Sandhu and Amo Sian. K’ford forwards had three shots on goal and these were saved by the SU keeper. The visitors had their own chances and were denied off the line by Amo Sian. However, they found a break through when a loose ball found its way into the K’ford D. The Coventry forward made no mistake and fired a fierce shot into the K’ford net. K’ford pressed for the equaliser and a change in the short corner routine allowed Billy Jawanda to tap home at the far post. There were some good performances from Sonny Matharu, Kaz Purewal and Kuldip Randhawa in midfield. Today’s K’ford Captain Kuli Toora stated "It’s a pleasure to play Coventry Sikh Union whom we have known for many many years. We have to learn from their example and draft in youngsters into our club. The hockey played by both teams was very skilful and good to watch although it lacked the hurly burly fast pace that will be encountered in the League. Next week we have two matches at Bridgnorth that will shape the future of Kingswinford. Everybody that wants to play must attend!". Rinku (Cov SU Captain) "We would like to wish K’ford the best of luck in the new season and wish they can return us a friendly later in the season when we can socialise to the high standard of hospitality they have shown us today".
Man of the Match: Amo Sian. - Big thank you to Permi Johal for umpiring.
