Seniors (Match Report by Gavi Singh)
Ludlow 2 - 4 Kingswinford
Goal Scorers: Sarj Takhar (2), Papi Samra, Tom Underhill

Kingswinford started their last Summer League match of 2008 with 9 players due to late arrivals. Young Tom Underhill was added to the starting line up to win his first full cap with the seniors. Kingswinford found themselves 1-0 down within 5 minutes after a rare mistake by veteran sweeper Parj Sangha. Ludlow added a second shortly after with an excellent short corner routine. Fifteen minutes into the match the Cavalry arrived in the guise of Kaza Purewal & Papi Samra. Kingswinford re-organised themselves and started to take a hold of the game with Sarj Takhar winning and converting a short corner. Kingswinford’s 2nd goal was Takhar at his best. Beating 2 players with skill he played a quick 1-2 with Samra and fired home a powerful shot into the Ludlow net. Papi Samra scored Kingswinford’s 3rd when he was sent clean through by an excellent ball by Daman Johal. In the second half up and coming youngster Tom Underhill scored his debut goal after great work by Sonny Matharu and Lubby Ram. Kingswinford then held on for a 4-2 win with excellent tackles by Parj Sangha, Adam Pritchard and Billy Sandhu. With this win Kingswinford ended their 2008 SL campaign. The end of another 'Mid-Summer Night’s Dream'!

Kingswinford 8 - 3 Lubby's Select XI
Goal Scorers: (Kingswinford) Gavi Singh (2), Ajay Sandhu (3), Papi Samra, Billy Sandhu, Julian Turner
Goal Scorers: (Lubby's Select XI) Ginge Sehmbi, Ravi Johal, Steve Woody

This was a very exciting mid-summer friendly between Kingswinford and a special Lubby’s Select XI. Lubby’s boys took their time to settle and found themselves 3 – 0 down within 15 minutes with superbly taken goals from Papi, Julian and Ajay. Worse was to follow for Lubby’s XI when Skipper Sarj Takhar brought on Gavi Singh. Gavi wasted no time and added goals 4 and 5 with brilliant reverse stick shots. Lubby then made a tactical switch bringing himself off for Ginge Sehmbi and this worked a treat. Ginge converted a short corner on the stroke of half time to make it 5-1 to Kingswinford. Kingswinford started the second half at a high pace and were rewarded for their hard work when Billy Sandhu scored with a superb first time shot! This was the last straw for Lubby who threw his stick on the floor in disgust. Kingswinford then started playing relaxed hockey allowing Lubby’s Select XI back into the match with goals from Ravi Johal and Steve Woody. Ajay Sandhu added two more from short corners won by Kaz Purewal to wrap up the match 8-3 to Kingswinford!

Summer League (Match Report by Surjit Takhar)
Kingswinford 0 - 2 Old Halesonians

Kingswinford slumped to their third defeat in as many weeks in the Mercian Summer League 2008. The promise, invention and energy from the early weeks seems to have been lost. Captain Lubby Ram stuck with his new tactical formation of playing Sonny Matharu in defence and covering the role of Centre Midfield himself. Kings created numerous chances within the first half but new boy Brij Azad was unable to convert any of these.
The second half started in disaster when Sonny Matharu played a pass to the Old Hales centre forward from a free hit. The Old Hales player stood still for what seemed eternity (probably pinching himself to make sure he was not dreaming) and struck a powerful shot into Tim Sander’s goal. Old Hales added a second when Lubby gave away a penalty flick by stick blocking an Old Hales player in the 'D'. Kingswinford then started to lose their heads with first Sarj Takhar picking up a green card for aggressive play followed by Azad Akhtar being sent off for swearing at the umpire! Kingswinford did go close in the dying minutes of the match when Sarj put Brij straight through on goal but Brij beat the advancing keeper only to fire wide with an open goal at his mercy. Mistakes were made all over the pitch and the team as a whole needs to assess their own individual performance and then the team’s. Many feel the tactics & new formation needs re-evaluating.

Summer League (Match Report by Adam Pritchard)
Kingswinford 1 - 2 Ludlow
Goal Scorer: Surjit Takhar

Kingswinford were missing Gavi & Sunny so captain Lubby Ram fielded a new look midfield with himself at centre half. Kingswinford started the game off slowly and the opposition capitalised on this as they were very quick, kings were always chasing the game as they didn’t have the pace to match Ludlow’s youngsters. Kings had a couple of good chances in the first half mainly coming thanks to some great runs from Chris Brown; one shot rebounded off the Ludlow keeper’s right post.

In the second half Ludlow got the opening goal from a short corner, and then the second from poor defending. After many short corner chances, Kings finally put one away thanks to a good strike from Sarj Takhar. Parj was yellow carded late in the second half for repeatedly using his backstick, which left Kings with 10 men for the last few minutes. Kingswinford must play the bright inventive hockey that they have played against the stronger teams in order to retain an impressive Summer League campaign.

Old Wulfrunians 3 - 4 Kingswinford
Goal Scorers: Chris Brown (2), Gavi Singh (2)

Kingswinford started off the game well against Old Wulfrunians going 2 nil up in the first half, the first goal from a good bit of play from Julian Turner and Sarj Takhar who played Chris Brown through to score the opening goal. Kings got their second goal from Gurminder who made a good run into the D and scored an amazing reverse stick goal.
Kingswinford let the opposition back into the game as they broke through the midfield and defence.
In the second half Kings made the game 3 – 1 with another goal from Chris Brown, this goal was made by some brilliant passing play between Chris Brown and Sarj Takhar. Kings let in another goal, this time from a short corner. Gurminder got his second goal from good passing play down the right hand side. Kings conceded another goal from a short corner to make it 4 –3. Kings held on to the lead thanks to some good defending from Dave Williams.

Summer League (Match Report by Sarj Takhar)
Kingswinford 3 - 2 Stourport Vets
Goal Scorers: Chris Brown (2), Gavi Singh

Kingswinford started this match with a high tempo and this paid dividends when Sarj Takhar beat a couple of players and laid the ball off for Chris Brown to slot home from D Top. Kings got their second through Gavi Singh firing home from a rebound shot. Kingswinford then started to relax and this allowed Stourport to get back in the match with a counter attack goal. In the second half Captain Lubby Ram made a tactical switch that placed new boy Julian Turner in midfield. Chris Brown added a second to his tally with an excellent solo effort. Kingswinford held out despite lots of pressure from Stourport and only conceded a late goal through a silly defensive error. Man of the Match goes to young Adam Pritchard who made some vital tackles along with experienced veteran Parj Sangha.

Kingswinford 1 - 1 Parents
Goal Scorers: Tom Underhill (Badgers), Keith Pinder (Parents)

A very enjoyable time was had by all who took part in this very first fixture between the badgers and their parents. The match was closely contested in the middle of the pitch. There were not many chances in the first half because the badgers could not break down a stubborn parents defence with the goalkeeper making some excellent saves. About ten minutes after half time the badgers managed to break through the defence with a goal from Tom Underhill. Ten minutes later the parents equalised through Keith Pinder. The badgers tried to find a winning goal but were stopped by the stubborn parents defence.

Kingswinford 2 - 9 Lichfield
Goal Scorers: Fergus Forsyth, Sarj Takhar

A weakened Kingswinford team took on a lively and youthful Lichfield team in an entertaining match at the Dell. Lichfield took the lead within the first 5 minutes and added another shortly after, before Sub Fergus Forsyth came on for the injured Ravi Johal and took his chance well provided by Sarj Takhar, however Lichfield soon replied again. The game was an entertaining game to watch with plenty of movement and several occasions of good basic skill were on show, Kingswinford battled on and managed to get another goal through the hard work of Richard Tuner and Sarj Takhar again, who was there to finish of the move, Kingswinford ended up on the end of a high scoring game but in reality on another day it could have and should have been a lot closer due to missed opportunities. However Lichfield deserved their hard fought win in an excellent and action packed friendly. Thank you as well to those who turned out to watch the match.

Kingswinford 4 - 5 Old Wulfrunians
Goal Scorers: Ajay Sandhu (2), Sarj Takhar, Daman Johal

A mixed Kingswinford team gave local rivals Old Wulfs an entertaining match at the Dell. Old Wulfs took the lead on 5 minutes and added another on 10 minutes after a mix up in defence. Returning hero Ajay Sandhu started the Kingswinford comeback with an excellent solo goal. Sarj Takhar then seized upon a mistake by the visitors defence by beating the last defender and lobbing the goal keeper using his reverse stick for a contender for goal of the month. Early In the second half, good build-up play led Old Wulfs to add two more goals to their tally. Kingswinford however did not give up and goals by Daman Johal and Ajay Sandhu drew Kingswinford level. Kingswinford then had numerous chances to take the lead with Billy Sandhu, Sunny Matharu, Jag Dulai and new boy Paul Smith going close. However Old Wulfs had the last laugh when they scored the winner in the closing stages of an excellent friendly match.

Kingswinford 4 - 4 Bournville
Goal Scorers: Kuldip Randhawa, Sol Buckner, Chris Edmunds, Steven Leonard

THREE goals in as many minutes stopped Kingswinford Thirds ending the season on a high at The Dell. Keeper Tim Sanders was helpless to stop Bournville scoring on 10 minutes when a deflected shot ricocheted into the net. But the introduction of team skipper Sol Buckner sparked a fight back and Kings were level within five minutes. Kuldip Randhawa fired in Buckner's short corner pass to set Kings in motion. Buckner then buried Steven Leonard's pass on 22 minutes to put Kings in front. Sanders swapped shirts with veteran midfielder Dean Holyoake at half-time. And the 39-year-old rookie keeper rolled back the years pulling off a series of stunning point blank saves to earn man-of-the-match. Chris Edmunds cracked home a third goal on the hour. Livewire Leonard rifled in the fourth minutes later to give Kings a commanding lead. But Kings defence flaked out as the Chocolate boys rallied with three goals in as many minutes to take a share of the spoils. Buckner said: "Dean was outstanding in goal and may have found a new vocation in life. All that army training paid off because he was totally fearless. We were unlucky not to have won the game but relieved not to have lost."

A STIRRING second half fight back saw Kingswinford almost snatch a share of the spoils in an action-packed friendly at the Dell Stadium. Stand-in keeper Wasim Iqbal pulled the ball out the net twice within five minutes of the start as Kings failed to wake up from a four week lay-off. And the Leicestershire lads piled on the pressure in the first half grabbing two more goals on the break. A rousing half-time pep talk by stand-in captain Micky Hinton sparked the fight back. Top scorer Chris Rawlings grabbed his seventh of the season tapping in a pin-point cross on 50 minutes. Minutes later Sol Buckner smashed home Kuldip Randhawa's pass on the top of the D. And Hinton snatched a third at the death after a well-worked short corner pass from Buckner. Hinton said: "We looked a bit shy of match practice but should have taken something from the game. We just ran out of time in the end. The game was played in a great spirit and we must thank Ashby for making the long trip over to the West Midlands."

Goals from Sarj Takhar, Azad Akhtar and Kaza Purewal gave Kings a commanding first half lead. Adams earned man-of-the-match with a superb save using his helmet from a penalty flick on the hour. Kingswinford 5 - 3 Barlaston
Goal Scorers: Gavi Singh (2), Chris Brown (3)

Kingswinford gave Barlaston their customary goal start within 5 minutes of this exciting BodyKraft WM division 2 fixture. Gavi Singh then equalised on 10 minutes and added a second 3 minutes later. An unfortunate injury to veteran sweeper Lubby Ram then meant the defence had to reshuffle. Chris Brown, who is currently playing the best hockey of his career, single handily took Barlaston apart with two solo goals. He beat 3 defenders and rounded the keeper twice to score after 40 yard runs. He was assisted by Sarj Takhar who made decoy runs to clear some of the path for him. Sarj seems to be off the boil at the moment and his mind seems on other things and this was proved when he was smacked by a defender across the shins and there was no response ! In the last ten minutes Barlaston got a 3rd goal but only for Brown to make it 5-3. There was a worry Kingswinford would see the last 10 minutes out with 10 men when Billy Sandhu lashed out at a Barlaston defender but the winger was lucky to escape with a green.

A good performance by K’ford in a draw at the Dell with Lichfield. K’ford started brightly and took the lead through Tom Underhill. K’ford continued to dominate and were unlucky not to extend their lead. Lichfield started pushing forward and were denied several times by defenders and goalkeeper. About 15 minutes into the second half Guneet Uppal doubled K’ford’s lead. Minutes later Lichfield replied with a superb reverse undercut. A couple of minute’s later Lichfield equalised after a goalmouth scramble from a short corner. K’ford went close in the last five minutes with Guneet hitting the post.

Yardley 1 - 4 Kingswinford
Goal Scorers: Happi Hundal (2), Billy Sandhu, Sol Buckner

TWO strikes from goal machine Harpreet Hundal helped Kingswinford firsts to victory in a lacklustre game in Small Heath on Sunday. Both teams looked like they were going through end-of-season motions with neither showing real commitment. But it was the hosts who opened the scoring on 22 minutes with a goal mouth scramble with keeper Dave Adams making a superb save only to see the rebound chipped over him into the goal. Kings eventually rallied and were rewarded with a penalty flick on 30 minutes expertly dispatched by Hundal. The second half saw Kings start much brighter and Billy Sandhu tapped home on 41 minutes after another goal mouth scramble from a short corner. Minutes later Hundal fired home an unstoppable rocket of a shot to make it 3-1. Then striker Sol Buckner wrapped up the game with a well-worked pass and move with Hundal on the hour.

1st Team (Match Report by Sarj Takhar)
Atherstone Adders 1 - 1 Kingswinford
Goal Scorer: Gavi Singh

Kingswinford HC had a share of the spoils against the Body Kraft League Leaders West Midlands Division 2. The match started at a frantic pace with Kingswinford camped in the Adders half. Within the first 10 minutes the Atherstone keeper had made 4 good saves from Chris Brown, Kaza Purewal, Sarj Takhar & Harpreet Hundal efforts. Against the run of play Atherstone won a short corner and converted. This only made Kings more eager and they tried in vain to equalise with the Atherstone defence making excellent tackles. Mid-way through the second half Kingswinford equalised through Gavi Singh. The next 15 minutes were all Kingswinford but again Atherstone defended well. Richard Brown, Lubby Ram, Sati Takhar, Sonny Matharu and Azad Akhtar all played brilliant when they were often exposed on the counter attack. The match ended a draw but Kingswinford’s efforts were appreciated by Atherstone and their detailed match report reflects this.

Kingswinford 1 - 8 Stafford
Goal Scorer: Tom Underhill

TEENAGE prodigy Tom Underhill scored on his league debut to raise a brief cheer at the end of another gruelling season for the thirds. The 13-year-old spared another whitewash for Sol Buckner’s beleaguered side by tapping in a well worked consolation goal. Stafford ran riot at the Dell on Saturday and were 3-0 up within seven sorry minutes. Keeper Liam Smith picked the ball out of the back of the net twice more before half-time. The visitors grabbed three more in the second half before Underhill produced his moment of magic. And the youngster was unlucky not to have had a second when the umpire ruled out his brilliantly taken goal. Buckner said: “This team was a credit to the club because of its never-say-die attitude and wonderful spirit. We scored against every team in the league which was pleasing but we just could not compete. Tom’s goal was a real gem and he has a very bright future ahead of him. I must thank all the players and umpires who have supported me in what has been a very difficult season. We lost half of last year’s squad before September and never really recovered. The lads have had a very sharp learning curve this season and I wish them luck for the future.”

Kingswinford 4 - 1 Market Drayton
Goal Scorers: Harpreet Hundal, Chris Brown (3)

Kingswinford first team were back to winning ways in an exciting clash with table-toppers Market Drayton in Body Kraft West Midlands Division 2. Harpreet Hundal opened the scoring with a smart short corner routine. Kingswinford scored their second with Chris Brown dribbling past almost the entire Drayton defence and squaring to Sarj Takhar. Takhar smartly dropped a shoulder pretending to shoot but instead returned an inch perfect pass to Brown to tap in. Both Brown and Takhar had an identical pass and move routine for the third goal. In the second half Gavi Singh picked a yellow card but Kingswinford held on and Brown scored his third via a short corner. Market Drayton finished stronger and grabbed a consolation goal on 65 minutes.

CHRIS Rawlings' well taken goal was the only highlight of another miserable away day for Kingswinford. West Brom were three goals ahead before Mark Stevenson was dismissed for dissent on 25 minutes. The hosts piled on the misery in the second half as they made their extra man count with four more goals. Rawlings chipped over the keeper two minutes from time to raise a brief cheer. Stafford visit the Dell on Saturday for the last game of a long, hard season. Push back is 4pm.

Badgers (Match Report by Sol Buckner)
Kingswinford 0 - 1 Wednesbury

TIM SANDERS troops could not find a way past a stubborn Wednesbury side in a heated derby at the Dell Stadium. Sanders was smashed in the face by a vicious ball into the D on 26 minutes and needed treatment. But his side fought bravely on and held out until half time despite a barrage of pressure from the visitors who fielded three adults. Tom Hickman pulled off magnificent saves before and after the break to keep Kings in it. But the team finally fell to a well-worked short corner on the hour. Sanders said: "It was a tough, physical game but I was proud of the way the team never gave up."

Chaddesley Corbett 4 - 4 Kingswinford
Goal Scorers: Harpreet Hundal (2), Lubby Ram, Chris Brown

Kingswinford played their worst performance of the season and deserved nothing more than to draw with bottom of the league Chaddesley. Each Kingswinford player was guilty of taking this game for granted. Kingswinford were slow in their build-up play and lost out on every 50-50 ball, in fact they lost out on every 70-30 ball in their favour. Harpreet Hundal opened the scoring on 20 minutes after Lubby Ram won a flick. Chaddesley equalised with a great counter attack. Lubby then got on the score sheet himself again for Corbett to equalise. In the second half Corbett took the lead. Chris Brown equalised. Kings then wasted 5 short corners. Sarj Takhar then had what seemed a perfect goal disallowed by Umpire Chazz Dulai (for shielding the ball). Hundal added the forth with a penalty flick. Corbett caught Kings on the break to make it 4-4. They then held out for the last 5 minutes for this famous giant killing. It must be said they were excellent and Kings were very poor.

Kingswinford 1 - 1 Evesham
Goal Scorer: Sol Buckner

A STUNNING solo effort by skipper Sol Buckner inspired Kingswinford to a well-earned draw against promotion-chasing Evesham. The buoyant Blues defended superbly in the first 20 minutes marshalled by tireless Tim Sanders. Midfield dynamo Dean Holyoake almost put Kings ahead on 23 minutes firing just wide. But against the run of play Evesham took the lead on 25 minutes through a quick break. Kings piled on the pressure in the second half and were rewarded when Buckner dispossessed a defender and sprinted 45 metres to fire past an advancing Evesham keeper on the hour. The final whistle brought huge relief all round as Kings celebrated their first point of the season. Sanders earned man-of-the-match. Delighted skipper Buckner said: “We played our best hockey in 12 months and I hope it’s not another 12 months before we play like this again. “The team played out of their skins and I couldn’t have asked for any more effort.”

Badgers (Match Report by Tom Hickman)
Walsall 1 - 2 Kingswinford
Goal Scorers: Sunny Uppal, Cole Hickman

K’ford started brightly and only three minutes into the game K’ford took the lead through a goal by Sunny Uppal. Minutes later Walsall went clean through but were denied by the goalkeeper. K’ford continued to dominate the game but couldn’t find a second goal. Five minutes after half time K’ford doubled their lead with a goal from Cole Hickman. Walsall tried their best to get back into the game and scored in the final five minutes to give the game a tense finish but K’ford managed to hang on. Well done for third win of the season.

Kingswinford 1 - 3 Bromsgrove
Goal Scorer: Tim Sanders

TWO disallowed goals proved costly for Kingswinford in another enthralling encounter at the Dell stadium. Bromsgrove opened the scoring within five minutes after a goal mouth scramble. Then Kings fought back hard with skipper Sol Buckner testing their keeper from 10 yards. But the visitors went 2-0 ahead on 30 minutes despite the sterling efforts of keeper Liam Smith to keep out a close range shot. Kings sprang out of the blocks in the second half. Veteran keeper-turned-goal poacher Mark Stevenson used all of his guile on 52'. The evergreen 45-year-old raced into the D to see his pass to Buckner fired toward goal with a defender using his body to stop the shot. Umpire Sati Takhar awarded a penalty which Tim Sanders coolly slotted home. Bromsgrove hit back on the break to make it 3-1 on the hour. Kings refused to buckle and a short corner on 62 minutes saw Buckner squeeze the ball home only for umpire Simon Palmer to disallow his effort. Minutes later umpire Takhar ruled out Stevenson's bullet of a goal ruling the ball was lifted into the D. Skipper Buckner said: "Everyone stood up and was counted and I couldn't have asked any more from the lads. I am very proud of them all. Lady luck just was not with us." Kingswinford welcome Evesham to the Dell on Saturday for a 4pm push back.

Kingswinford 3 - 4 Streetly
Goal Scorers: Chris Brown (2), Ginge Sehmbi

This was a pulsating Body Kraft Midlands Division 2 fixture. Streetly brought two of their old forwards out of semi-retirement for this match and both proved decisive. Within 10 minutes Streetly's number 9 had scored 2 goals by exploiting Kingswinford mistakes at the back! Kingswinford responded with an excellent solo goal by Chris Brown. Unfortunately all 50-50 decisions by the league umpires seemed to go against Kings and following such a decision Streetly counter attacked to score their 3rd. Billu Sandhu then brought on Sati Takhar to tighten up the defence and this worked a treat with some excellent tackles by Takhar. Minutes into the second half Brown scored his second but Streetly were awarded a harsh short corner from which they made it 4-2. Kingswinford piled on the pressure and Ginge scored a well worked short corner to make it 4-3. The next 20 minutes were all Kings and good defending kept Kings out. It appears that Kingswinford are now out of the promotion race, but it is not through lack of effort.

A few minutes after the goal K’ford changed goalkeeper but Kings Heath continued to dominate and kept shooting wide or being denied by the keeper. In the second half Kings Heath were awarded a penalty flick which a few K’ford players were unhappy about. The flick was converted and then Kings Heath scored a third. With three minutes to go K’ford staged a comeback. Two goals from Cole Hickman made the scores level again and then Sunny with a brilliant run down the right hand side managed to score the winner. Shortly after the umpires blew the final whistle and K’ford celebrated their second win of the season. Well done.

Kingswinford 2 - 0 Loughborough Town
Goal Scorers: Richard Turner, Ravi Johal

The Kingswinford Old boys got off to the best start for 2008 with a 2-0 win. Skipper Manjit Sidhu fielded a very attack minded team against a hard working opposition. On ten minutes Papi Samra went close after a smart one-two with Azad Akhtar. The Deadlock was broken after good work from Sonny Matharu resulted in a free hit outside the D. Azad Akhtar hit the ball firmly for Richard Turner to apply a deft touch to squeeze the ball through the keeper's legs to score. The next 30 minutes were all Kingswinford with Billu Sandhu, Ginge Sehmbi, Ravi Johal all going close. Meanwhile the defence stood solid with Sati Takhar, Dulla Sandhu, Lubby Ram, Parj Sangha & Sarj Nijjar all playing well. It was Richard Turner who again made the vital move that lead to Kingswinford's second goal. He collected a pass from Hari Singh and sqaured to Johal to tap home. Kingswinford will be hoping for a home-tie and better finishing in the next round in this competition.

Kingswinford 2 - 2 Old Silhillians
Goal Scorers: Sarj Takhar, Ravi Johal

GOALS from Ravi Johal and Sarj Takhar salvaged a point with Kingswinford in a pulsating clash at the Dell. The visitors went ahead on 10 minutes when their striker skipped past keeper Tim Sanders to slot home from close range. Man-of-the-match Sanders pulled off a fine point blank save minutes later as Old Sills piled on the pressure. Kings held firm until the break but only started to fightback after Old Sills went two goals up. Takhar blasted home after good work in the D on 48 minutes. Then Johal tapped in Fergus Forsyth's cross to level on the hour. Sanders marshalled the defence superbly in the last 10 minutes to keep the visitors at bay and ensure a share of the spoils. Delighted Sanders said: "We were under the kosh for long spells in the game so we're quite pleased to get a point."

1st Team
Kingswinford 7 - 2 Stafford
Goal Scorers: Azad Akhtar (2), Harpreet Hundal (2), Kaza Purewal, Chris Brown, Gavi Singh

This was an exciting Body Kraft West Midlands Division 2 clash between two old rivals. Kingswinford got off to an excellent start when Harpreet Hundal added two sublime goals from short corners. Azad Akhtar then poached two goals with a training ground short corner routine. The second half saw Stafford pull two goals back but Kaz Purewal scored with a deft touch to take the game beyond Stafford. Returning hero Lubby Ram was solid at the back and kept Stafford at bay. Regulars Gavi & Chris also scored late on. Billu Sandhu "That was a good performance. It is pleasing to see players do things easy & simple and Kaz was brilliant at that today". Next Week Kingswinford are at Yardley 1pm Start. Please be advised that Birmingham City are at home and traffic maybe be busy in the area.

2nd Team
Leamington 4 - 1 Kingswinford
Goal Scorer: Fergus Forsyth

Kingswinford 2nds slumped to defeat in this 6-pointer match. Leamington started stronger and scored a scrappy goal on 10 minutes. Their second goal went in via an attacker’s foot on route to goal. Unfortunately both umpires failed to spot this and the goal stood. Kingswinford then had some good play. Richard Turner was about to score only for the umpire to blow for a previous foul and award a short corner to Kingswinford (playing advantage would have been the better decision). Kingswinford then conceded another scrappy goal and the match was lost. Highlight of the match was youngster Fergus Forsyth’s deft touch goal from a right wing cross. Both Fergus & Daman played excellent hockey in difficult circumstances. Kingswinford need to get some more points on the board if they are to stay in this league. Hopefully more regular players will return from injuries and reinforce the squad.

(Match Report by Sol Buckner)
Kidderminster 3 - 1 Kingswinford
Goal Scorer: Chris Rawlings

CHRIS Rawlings' superb first half goal was not enough to inspire Kingswinford. The burly striker powered home Sol Buckner's well worked pass to equalise on 25 minutes. But yet again Kings crumbled in the second half to record their ninth straight defeat. Deflated skipper Buckner said: "It's been a very tough season and I'm looking forward to the end of it already."

Badgers (Match Report by Tom Hickman)
Kingswinford 1 - 0 Wolverhampton
Goal Scorer: Sophie Tibbetts

Kingswinford started the game brightly against their local rivals and took the lead through Sophie Tibbetts. K’ford continued to dominate the first half but could not find a second goal. Half time came with the score still at 1-0. K’ford continued to dominate early in the second half but Wolverhampton then came at them strongly but failed to find a way through a solid k’ford defence. K’ford won a penalty flick about ten minutes into the half but unfortunately a good save by the keeper denied Cole Hickman. Wolverhampton continued to attack late on but K’ford kept catching them on the break but were denied a second goal. A good all round performance by K’ford which resulted in their first win of the season.
Man of the Match - Tom Underhill.

1st Team (Match Report by Lubby Ram)
Oswestry 3 - 6 Kingswinford
Goal Scorers: Gavi Singh (2), Chris Brown (2), Sarj Takhar, Happi Hundal

Kingswinford started this match in disarray and found themselves 2-0 down within 10 minutes to a very strong Owestry Team. Owestry were hungrier and stronger on the ball and deserved their two goals. Both were scored by excellent build up play and sharp finishes. Eventually Kingswinford started to wake up late into the first half and Gavi Singh scored a reverse stick goal. Chris Brown equalised from a short corner. On the stroke of half time Brown scored his second to make it 3-2. The second half saw Kingswinford dominate with goals from Takhar, Gavi & Harpreet. They could have been a few more goals for Kingswinford but the game was won. Thought for rest of season; all the forwards must use each other more and certain players need to stop being selfish and holding onto the ball too long!

Kingswinford 3 - 4 Market Drayton
Goal Scorers: Chris Rawlings, Micky Hinton, Steve Leonard

IT WAS another case of so near so far for Kingswinford thirds in a ding-dong clash at the rainsoaked Dell Stadium. Another slow start saw Kings go a goal down within five minutes when a Drayton winger reached the by-line to squeeze the ball past Liam Smith from an impossible angle. This time the Blues rallied and Chris Rawlings poked home his fourth of the season following a well worked short corner on 10 minutes. But a defensive mix-up gifted the visitors a second minutes later. Then birthday boy Micky Hinton celebrated in style grabbing a brilliant equaliser to make it 2-2 just before the break. The second half saw Drayton start the brighter again and they were soon 3-2 ahead with Kings chasing the game once more. Then Steve Leonard smashed home an equaliser from close range on the hour. But again the visitors edged ahead with a well taken poachers goal on 62 minutes. Despite laying siege on Drayton's goal, Kings were unable to find a break-through with the keeper making a string of fine saves. Promising teenager Jon Craggs won man-of-the-match. Frustrated vice-captain Hinton said: "We went to watch a band called Heartbreaker in the evening to celebrate my birthday. It could not have been more appropriate after the despair of our match! We deserved at least a point.

1st Team (Match Report by Balbinder Singh)
Kingswinford 8 - 4 Aston University
Goal Scorers: Gavi Singh (4), Chris Brown (2), Sarj Takhar, Happi Hundal

Today's win was rather flattering for Kingswinford. Aston University gave Kings a much closer match than the scoreline suggests. Within the first ten minutes the Students were 2-0 up. Kings responded through goals by Harpreet & Gavi. Gavi then scored a solo effort to make it 3-2 only for the Students to level before half time leaving the score 3-3 !
In the second half Aston started brightly and were awarded a penalty when Dave Adams brought their forward down in the 'D'. The penalty was converted and Kingswinford were now 4-3 down. Cometh the hour, cometh the hero - and Takhar brilliantly beat the last defender and rounded the keeper to slot the ball home to make it 4-4 ! This was the least Sarj could do as he had missed some good chances early on after getting himself into excellent space with his close skills. There was an unfortunate break in play when one of the students bravely dived in front of a Kings shot and needed stitches and was taken to hospital. The break allowed Billu Sandhu to change Kings line-up with Sati moving to Right Half & Kaz to Inside Left. There was an immediate impact and Sarj & Gavi saw a lot more of the ball. Both combined for Gavi's next goal. Gavi then promptly scored his 4th with a magnificent lob from an acute angle after a defence splitting pass from Happi. Chris Brown finished Aston off with a brace in the last 5 minutes. Billu Sandhu commented '' That was a good performance but had we taken our chances then we would not have been under such pressure today''. Next Week away to Oswestry @ 1:30pm (Meet Toys R Us J2 M5 @ 11:30am). Man of Match Gavi Singh.

(Match Report by Sol Buckner)
Stone 7 - 1 Kingswinford
Goal Scorer: Steve Leonard

TWO penalties and a series of injuries left Kingswinford ruing their luck in this tough BodyKraft West Mids league two clash. Fielding a young side, Kings played like a team with a purpose repelling early pressure to counter attack several times. Skipper Sol Buckner and Chris Rawlings went close but it was the hosts who found the break through on 15 minutes when an unmarked player found space to score. Minutes later poor marking let Stone in again to go two up. But superb defensive work and a string of fine saves by keeper Liam Smith kept Stone at bay. However the second half failed to live up to the first and Kings conceded early on before a dubious short corner was given against Mick Hinton who was injured by a high-flying ball. Stone went 4-0 ahead on 40 minutes and soon made it five before Kings finally got their reward on the hour. Steve Leonard coolly converted a penalty flick after man-of-the-match Jason Couzens' goal-bound shot was stopped by a foot on the line. In form Smith brilliantly saved a penalty before Chris Hancocks was sidelined when the ball was smashed into his face from close range. Stone grabbed two more goals late on to compound another miserable away day. Skipper Buckner said: "We fought like Trojans in the first half but ran out of steam in the second. There were some dubious decisions against us again by Stone's umpires. Thankfully Chris's injury was not too serious. I was very proud of the team because they really put the effort in especially the younger players who are starting to come of age."

Badgers (Match Report by Tom Hickman)
Kingswinford 1 - 3 Sutton Coldfield
Goal Scorer: Sam George

A good performance by K’ford as they still push for their first win of the season. Sutton Coldfield started stronger and creating chances which were neatly saved by keeper Thomas Hickman. Sutton continued to press and scored the opening goal. Then disaster struck when Tim Saunders stopped a shot on the line with his feet but the flick was saved by the goalkeeper. Sutton doubled their lead and then disaster struck. Tom managed to injure his right leg kicking the ball clear. After a few minutes help to make it feel better Tom carried on but with the leg still hurting. At the end of the first half Sam George scored after some good work by Cole Hickman. In the second half Sutton scored again to make it 3-1 and would have made it 4-1 right at the end had it not been for three god saves from the keeper.
Man of the Match – Thomas Hickman aka Smiley.

1st Team (Match Report by Billy Sandhu)
Kidderminster 3 - 8 Kingswinford
Goal Scorers: Chris Brown (3), Azad Akhtar (2), Gavi Singh, Kaza Purewal, Billy Sandhu

Excellent start to 2008 by Kingswinford. 'Topgun' Chris Brown scored 3 with the other 'Goodfellas' Azad, Gavi, Kaz & Billy. In the 5th minute Brown drew 'First Blood' by dribbling past 3 defenders and showed he is 'Coolhand Luke' in the D when he lobbed the Goalkeeper. Azad added to his 'Fame' by scoring 2 beautifully 'taken' goals. Billy, Andy Cutler & Chris Rawlings showed they are no 'Outsiders' by fitting well into the 1st team system. 'Big Boss' Andy Cutler squared to Kaz for him to make it 4-1 to Kingswinford and there was 'No Way Out' for Kidderminster before half-time. Lubby, Sati & Harry defended well and showed they were up for 'The Duel' against some tough forwards. There was one bad tackle from 'Dirty Harry' that resulted in a flick to make the score 4-2 but there was no need for Kings to 'Scream' because 'Predator' Brown quickly added two more after some neat passes by Takhar. The goal of the 'Mean Season' so far came when 'Billy the Kid' finished off a '10' pass move with a super hit from 'D' top. It was Billy's 1st team debut as the sub had only just found himself 'Trading Places' with Gavi on the right wing. Hopefully Kings can retain this form and it will mean 'Back to the Future' for the Club with higher divisions beckoning! 'When Saturday comes' next week 'The Players' will be ready to commence battle. For New Year resolutions a few of the squad are staying off the beer & 'Cocktail' to ensure they achieve 'Mission Impossible'!

(Match Report by Sol Buckner)
Kidderminster 1 - 5 Kingswinford
Goal Scorer: Sol Buckner, Surjit Takhar (2), Gavi Singh, Micky Hinton

KINGSWINFORD'S third team enjoyed the perfect start to the New Year with a five star performance at Kidderminster. Skipper Sol Buckner opened the scoring in this competitive friendly with a half-shot from the top of the D on 8 minutes. Surjit Takhar followed up with a crisp shot from a short corner on 15 minutes. Buckner replaced Takhar in defence on 20 minutes and helped keep the hosts at bay. Just before half-time, Kidderminster broke into the D to fire a shot at goal which Buckner had to dive to the deck to avoid. The umpire waved play on and a striker sneaked the ball past bemused keeper Chris Rawlings. In the second half Kings took a firm grip, with goals from Gavi Singh, one more from Takhar and a superb effort by vice captain Micky Hinton. Man-of-the-match award went to Chris Hancocks for a superb performance at right back. Skipper Buckner said: "Thanks to Hari Singh, Surjit and Gavi for helping us out. Illness, absenteeism and car batteries failing had left us depleted. Everyone worked very hard today and thoroughly deserved the win. We had forgotten what it felt like to win. Hopefully we can beat Kiddy for a third time at the end of this month."

Kingswinford 5 - 0 Kynoch
Goal Scorers: Harpreet Hundal (3), Gavi Singh, Ravi Johal

Many of Kingswinford's team started this match supporting bad hangovers - In fact some were still drunk from the previous night! The match was played at walking pace at times with this suiting Kynoch who had the game plan of keeping the score respectable. Harpreet Hundal scored his first from a short corner strike. He then missed a penalty flick before adding a second from a short corner. Gavi Singh then added a third when he picked up a smart pass from Chris Brown that he flicked into the roof of the net. Ginge Sehmbi then set up Ravi Johal to score a simple tap-in in the second half. Many of the 'Party Animals' were now beginning to sober-up and there were good touches from Lubby Ram, Sonny Matharu, Azad, Sati and Kaza. In the final minute Sarj Takhar picked the ball up on the 'D' top and dribbled past 2 defenders, expertly rounded the keeper but then casually flicked the ball goal bound only to see it saved on the line by a defender's stick. This summed up Kingswinford day - too many players took this match casually but luckily 3 or 4 players did enough for Kings to win the match. Merry Christmas to everyone & a Happy New Year.

1st Team (Match Report by Gavi Singh)
Aldridge 1 - 9 Kingswinford
Goal Scorers: Chris Brown (4), Sarj Takhar (4), Gavi Singh

Kingswinford got off to an excellent start in this match when Chris Brown dribbled into the 'D' and scooped the ball in after only 48 seconds into the match. He then added 3 further goals as Aldridge were ripped apart by Kingswinford’s powerful play. Sarj Takhar got into the mood mid-way into the 1st half by dribbling past 2 defenders and firing home from 'D' top. He too scored 4 with his final goal being a reverse stick flick that agonisingly crept in as the stranded Aldridge keeper tried to keep it out. Gavi Singh rounded off the scoring with a drag flick. Harpreet Hundal & Sonny Matharu had an excellent match in midfield where they kept Aldridge at bay with their defensive work and set Kings attacks up. Kingswinford had a very quiet last twenty minutes - with a couple of their Star Players rested. Manager Billu Sandhu added “ That was a good performance but we must not be over reliant on a couple of players - today was a self imposed rest but in the future injuries may dictate who comes off”.

Kingswinford 1 - 6 Pershore
Goal Scorer: Sol Buckner

A THREE week break proved disastrous for Kings as they were hit for six by high-flying Pershore. The Blues were two down within five minutes following some poor defending. A short corner before the break made it 3-0 and left skipper Sol Buckner fuming. A heated half-time pep talk sparked a brief fight back. Buckner’s neat turn and shot from 10 yards out jinked past the Pershore keeper. But the visitors piled on the misery with three more goals leaving Kings with a pre-Christmas hangover. Buckner said: “Unfortunately we’ve got another three week break now and I just hope the lads go easy on the mince pies and Christmas cake.”

2nd Team (Match Report by Lubby Ram)
Stone 1 - 1 Kingswinford
Goal Scorer: Ravi Johal

Kingswinford travelled to rain soaked Stone Hockey Club for an exciting bottom of the table fixture that both teams desperately needed to win. Kingswinford had a strong line-up with Sarj Takhar, Kaza Purewal & Lubby Ram all in 2nds after returning from 3 weeks out on Holiday. It took 15 minutes for Kings to exert any pressure on Stone - Ravi Johal broke free from his marker and slipped a shot under the goal keeper only to see it hit the post ! The match was evenly contested in midfield with Daman, Fergus, Kuldip, Mark Stevenson & Kaza all battling hard to stop Stone midfielders from getting a clear pass to their forwards. Sarj Takhar then provided the inspiration for Kings goal. He received the ball on the half-way line, skipped past the first challenge, beat the second tackle with his 'trade mark' dropping the shoulder, dispensed the Stone sweeper with a sweet 'Dib-Dab' and squared to Ravi Johal to round the keeper and slot home !
In the second half there was a similar move that Stone's Umpire should have played advantage on but instead blew for a short corner just as Sarj entered the 'D' to strike after riding 3 bad tackles. The short corners Kings did receive were wasted and these were to prove costly. Ten minutes into the 2nd half Stone were unjustly awarded a short corner - many of the Kingswinford players confronted the umpire and Takhar got a yellow. He was kept off the pitch for 15 minutes (Deja vu Redditch Match)! In this time Stone battled hard for the equaliser and won a flick when veteran sweeper, Surjit Nijjar, allowed a weak shot to hit his foot on the line. The Penalty was converted. Kingswinford pushed for the winner in the last 5 minutes with Kaza Purewal, Billy Sandhu & Ravi Johal all going close. Stone held on for the Draw. Kingswinford 2nds now have no league matches until January and they must re-group and change their fortunes for the New Year.

Barlaston 1 - 7 Kingswinford
Goal Scorers: Harpreet Hundal (3), Chris Brown, Lubhaya Ram, Gurminder Singh (2)

The game started very competitively but scrappily with both teams trying to settle down the nerves. Kingswinford scored an early goal through Harpreet Hundal via a well taken short corner routine. Barlaston in return applied a fair amount of pressure on the K'ford midfield and defence units, resulting in Barlaston equalising via a deflected hit into the goal area. K'ford held out the pressure to half time and were fortunate to grab a late flick just prior to the half time whistle, converted confidently by Chris Brown. Although leading at the whistle, the first half performance from K'ford was pathetically poor. There appeared to be lack of confidence, structure and commitment, with all players making fundamental mistakes.
The harsh words said at half time must have had in impact on K'ford’s performance in the 2nd half. K'ford started to release the ball early, make space for each other and started to play as a unit looking dangerous on every attack. Two quick goals, one from Lubhaya Ram and the other from Harpreet Hundal, further fuelled the K’ford performance. Barlaston though, did not give up and in turn looked dangerous on breaks but the K’ford defence held their own. Further goals through Harpreet Hundal (flick) and two from Gurminder Singh gave Kingswinford an overall convincing win leaving them still in 4th place of Division 2 West.
Captain's man of the match went to Richard Brown.

Lichfield 3 - 1 Kingswinford
Goal Scorer: James Rawlings

K’ford arrived at Lichfield in a good mood after drawing both their last two games and were looking for their first win of the season. They had to borrow a goalkeeper off the opposition and K’ford started well by created chances and then taking the lead through James Rawlings. K’ford then pushed forward for that second goal but were denied by the Lichfield defence. Shortly before half time Lichfield scored after a massive goal mouth scramble with the keeper making two good saves and K’ford defenders stopping shots on the line. The half time whistle and the team felt that they should be in the lead. In the second half scored with about ten minutes left and K’ford desperately tried to equalise but Lichfield scored with an undercut that a few K’ford players were unhappy about because they nearly had their heads took off.

KINGSWINFORD crumbled to their fifth successive defeat at rainsoaked Stafford in the BodyKraft West Midlands league two. The first half saw few chances for Kings with only skipper Sol Buckner going close on 10 minutes. The hosts pushed harder and opened the scoring on 23 minutes when an unmarked player fired past fuming keeper Liam Smith. Skipper Buckner's half-time pep talk did little to stem the tide and Stafford scored two more in quick succession. Kings have a two week break before welcoming Pershore to the Dell Stadium on December 15 for a 4pm push back.

After a fighting team talk from captain Tim Sanders K’ford tried to equalise and after about twenty minutes Cole Hickman scored after flicking ball of the keeper’s leg for his second in two consecutive goals. K’ford tried to score a winning goal but was denied by a strong Old Hales defence. In the last few minutes K’ford was saved by Jaz after Tim had not realised there was any danger when passing towards Sam. 1st Team (Report by Sonny Matharu)
Market Drayton 1 - 3 Kingswinford
Goal Scorers: Harpreet Hundal (2), Chris Brown

Right from the start Kingswinford dominated the first half. On 5 minutes Sarj Takhar brilliantly controlled a Harpreet aerial ball and soon as he entered the 'D' unleashed a shot into the top left corner of Drayton's Net! Unfortunately the Umpire was not sure whether the ball had crossed the 'D' line and ruled 'No Goal' - despite a heated protest by Takhar & Kingswinford he stood by his decision. Kaz Purewal then cut inside from the right wing to win a short corner and Harpreet Hundal scored with a Drag Flick. From this point Kingswinford were camped in Market Drayton's half with Sarj, Chris & Azad missing guilt edge chances ! Just before the break Chris Brown slotted in from a Gavi Singh cross to make it 2-0.The second half Market Drayton came out with a game plan - Man Marking Harpreet & Sarj. They went close with a few chances and eventually scored a well worked goal leaving a tense 15 minutes for Kings ! Kingswinford Defence then held out with Dave, Sati, Richard, Azad & Ginge Sehmbi (back in the first team) all playing well. Kingswinford sealed the match when Harpreet scored his second from a short corner. Man of the Match Harpreet Hundal. Next Week Kingswinford host table toppers Atherstone Adders who have a very strong team this season. Kingswinford will be fully tested as a number of Key players are will be on holiday in India. Manger Billu Sandhu Commented 'We had to perform today and we did. I enjoyed watching that match from the sidelines. Bring on next week - I am sure we will get three points despite a depleted squad'.

Kingswinford 1 - 4 Hampton-In-Arden
Goal Scorer: Kuldip Randhawa

It was all change for the Kingswinford 2nds this week. Six changes from last week with Sarj & Kaz back into first and Hari Singh replacing them. These changes meant that everybody was getting used to each other’s game and hence Kingswinford were 4-0 down by half time. A stern half time team talk by Dulla Sandhu woke everybody up. Kingswinford youngster Fergus beat 2 defenders and rounded the goal keeper only to see his shot saved by a defenders foot. Kuldip stepped up to expertly dispatch the flick. Kingswinford then went close with Veteran Richard Turner missing a possible chance when he was put through by Hari Singh. Man of the Match Daman Johal - The youngster grows in confidence each match.

3rd Team (Report by Sol Buckner)
Kingswinford 1 - 3 West Bromwich
Goal Scorer: Zahir Afzal

A SPIRITED performance from Kingswinford gave high-flying West Bromwich a fright in this gripping BodyKraft West Midlands league two clash. A new 4-4-2 formation helped Kings put the visitors on the back foot for most of the first half. But against the run of play, a poor clearance fell to a West Brom striker who fired past stranded keeper Liam Smith. In the second half, skipper Sol Buckner was forced to make defensive changes again which cost dearly. Five minutes after the restart the visitors went two up and on 55 minutes they took a strangle hold with a gifted third. But King's 'never-say-die' attitude gave West Brom a torrid last 10 minutes. Micky Hinton's short-corner shot clattered the post and fell to Zahir Afzal who fired home his first league goal. Then minutes later Chris Rawlings missed a golden chance to score following Hinton's deft pass. Skipper Buckner said: "We deserved more again from the game as we worked our socks off. "It's a tough league for us but we've just got to stick together and keep working hard."

A fast attacking start by K’ford with them creating chances and taking the lead with a goal by Cole Hickman and a good cross from the left wing from Tom Underhill. K’ford pressed forward trying to get a second goal but Wednesbury were attacking on the break and would have scored a few goals if hadn’t have been for a couple of superb save for the K’ford goalkeeper “Darma”. Just before half time Wednesbury scored the equaliser after a player had been left unmarked in the “D”. After a team talk from Tim, the team tried to take the lead again but Wednesbury held them at bay. It finished all square but K’ford showed their best performance so far and are improving each week.

Kingswinford 5 - 2 Chaddesley Corbett
Goal Scorers: Ravi Johal (2), Sonny Matharu, Harpreet Hundal, Chris Brown

Chaddesley Corbett fielded their strongest team yet in the league. Kingswinford on the other hand had a couple key players missing from their line up. Despite this Kings got off to an excellent start when Capt. Sonny Matharu put Kingswinford ahead with a great strike from 'D' Top after great build up play. Harpreet Hundal then turned on the style threading two excellent through balls for Ravi and then Chris to add to score line. The 4th came courtesy of a solo run by Gavi Singh on the right wing and a sharp cut back for Harpreet to hammer home from 'D' Top.
In the second half Kings started to relax and maybe played some 'risky' hockey in defence which resulted in 2 goals to Chaddesley. The visitors then had the edge but excellent tackles by Sati Singh kept them at bay. A little mention must at this point go to the 'Living Legend' in hockey that is Sati Singh. Sati has been playing with an injured shoudler (sustained since the Barford Match in Sept) for over 2 months - that's commitment !! The heat out of the game was finally chilled when Super Veteran Striker Ravi Johal stepped up to tap in a Chris Brown cross on 60 minutes to make it 5-2 !! Man of the Match - Sati Singh. Next Week Kingswinford Travel to Table Topping Market Drayton for 2pm Start at Keele University.

A new look Kingswinford Team were unlucky not to get at least a point from this match. The 2nds were missing 5 regular 2nd team players and drafted in 5 youngsters - Chris Rawlings, Billy Sandhu, Fergus Forsyth, Daman Johal & James Logan.
Two first team members also were in the team (dropped as punishment for late arrivals) - Sarj Takhar & Kaza Purewal. Sarj & Kaz were asked to play in midfield and both played excellent. They broke up numerous Redditch attacks and laid the ball off for the younger players. Daman & Fergus both using their pace to attack the Redditch defenders. Mid-way through the 2nd half Takhar picked the ball in his own half quickly played an excellent one-two with Kaz beat 2 defenders before firing an unstoppable shot past the Redditch keeper. This rattled Redditch and they pushed for the equaliser but there was no way past Dulla Sandhu & Tim Sanders. Redditch then resorted to a physical game which both their umpires were happy to allow. Just before half time Redditch did break through to equalise but only for Sarj & Kaz to pull off an excellent pass & move break that ended with Takhar scoring his second. Dulla Sandhu could sense that the Redditch Players were trying their best to 'wind Up' Sarj and he pleaded with the Kingswinford Star not to lose his head during half time.
In the second half Redditch were rewarded for their 'dirty tactics' when Sarj & a Redditch player were both given yellow after Sarj squared up to the player following a nasty tackle. Both were off the pitch for 15 minutes - enough time for Redditch to score 3 goals and take a 4-2 lead. Kingswinford had lost their main man and tiredness had set in. The Enigma that is 'Sarj Takhar' has played Hockey for 11 years playing in Great & Not So Great Kingswinford Teams but it seems that many opposing teams have learn't how to exploit him and resort to 'Dirty Tactics' to upset his game - something he must learn to overcome quickly !! Kingswinford Skipper Dulla said ''We were very unlucky considering the team we fielded and we must provide our own umpire to try and balance things out as home umpires will always seek to give advantage to home teams''.
Man of the Match - Sarj Takhar excellent skills that even Redditch were willing to applaud after the match.

Evesham 6 - 0 Kingswinford

IT WAS a very long trip for Kingswinford after another thumping away from home in the BodyKraft West Midlands league two. Players were still filing onto the pitch when Evesham were bearing down on Liam Smith in goal. The teenager was soon picking the ball out of the net after two short corners caught Kings out cold. And two more goals soon followed after sloppy defensive work gifted the home side more golden opportunities. A stiff half-time team talk by skipper inspired a spirited second 35 but Evesham's defence refused to buckle under a series of attacks. Then the hosts helped themselves to two more goals to wrap up another miserable away day from Kings. West Bromwich visit the Dell Stadium on Saturday with a 4pm push-back.

Reports of games played on Saturday 3rd November 2007

1st Team (Report by Gavi Singh)
Streetly 0 - 2 Kingswinford
Goal Scorer: Ravi Johal (2)

This was a very tight match against old rivals Streetly. Kings pushed for the early goal and the deadlock was broken on 17 minutes when Ravi Johal touched in a cross from Harpreet Hundal. Streetly had the majority of play for the rest of the half and Dave Adams made three excellent saves to keep them out.
In the second half Kingswinford pushed for the second goal. Chris Brown and Sarj Takhar went close. Finally, on sixty five minutes Sarj went on a solo run and having entered the ‘d’ shot. The shot was going inches wide but super striker ‘Ravi Johal’ was at the right place at the right time to touch the shot in. 2-0 to Kings. Kingswinford then held on with Richard Brown and Sati Takhar making excellent tackles. Man of the match goes to Dave Adams for three breath taking saves. Next week Chaddesley Corbett at home 2:30pm.

2nd Team (Report by Dean Holyoake)
Kingswinford 1 - 2 West Bromwich
Goal Scorer: Kuldip Randhawa

KULDIP Randhawa’s fine strike was not enough to earn Kingswinford any points in this tough BodyKraft West Midlands league one fixture. Missing several key players including keeper Dave Adams, Kings struggled for possession in the first half. The visitors took a 2-0 lead going into the break and were in control. Soon after the break, veteran Randhawa rifled home a well-taken short corner to give Kings hope. But that was short-lived when the umpire gave a penalty stroke against Surjit Nijjar’s alleged body block of a goal-bound effort. Rookie keeper, Liam Smith, pulled off a fine save to keep Kings in it but despite heavy pressure the visitor’s defence held firm until the final whistle.

3rd Team (Report by Sol Buckner)
Kingswinford 2 - 4 Bloxwich
Goal Scorers: Raja Hussain, Steve Leonard

A STUNNING solo effort by Steve Leonard and a saved penalty failed to inspire Kingswinford to victory in another pulsating match at the Dell stadium. Kings got off to a flyer when Raja Hussain tapped home a four man pass and move on six minutes involving Sol Buckner and Steve Leonard. Minutes later Leonard put Kings two ahead with a goal-of-the-season contender. The teenager collected the ball on the left wing, beat five players before firing past the Bloxwich keeper from a narrow angle. The celebrations were shortlived when the visitors scored a simple tap in and then were awarded a controversial penalty stroke on the half-hour. Stand-in keeper Chris Rawlings pulled off a fine save but was soon pulling the ball out the back of the net. Chris Hancocks was forced to go off the pitch with an injured foot just before the break leaving a defensive headache for skipper Sol Buckner. Tim Sanders late arrival could not shore the wobbling defence as Bloxwich broke through twice early into the second half to take a 3-2 lead. Kings’ heads dropped as the visitors piled on the pressure and they were soon counting the cost of poor fitness and lack of desire when another quick break made it 4-2. Skipper Buckner said: “It was very disappointing. We were 2-0 up, saved a penalty and then threw it away. “We just did not have enough desire to win which is very frustrating.”

1st Team (Report by Sarj Takhar)
Kingswinford 10 - 1 Yardley
Goal Scorers: Happi Hundal (4), Gavi Singh (3), Sarj Takhar (2), Chris Brown.

This was a good match with Kings having 90% of the play. Man of the match, Chris Brown, set up most of Kings attacks. Kings will be looking for a good performance next week against Streetly.

2nd Team (Report by Dave Adams)
Old Silhillians 4 - 2 Kingswinford
Goal Scorers: Kuldip Randhawa, Andy Cutler

A STRING of fine saves by keeper Dave Adams was not enough to give Kingswinford seconds a share of the spoils in Solihull. Adams pulled off several close range shots in this tough BodyKraft West Midlands League One fixture on Saturday. The hosts made the breakthrough just before half-time with a quick break. And early second half pressure paid off when Old Sils scored two more, one from a penalty stroke on 52 minutes. The penalty sparked a spirited Kings fightback with Kuldip Randhawa and Andy Cutler both scoring within 10 minutes to make a nervous last quarter of the match. But Kings momentum ran out when the hosts grabbed a decisive fourth minutes from the end. Keeper Adams said: “We deserved more out of the game but it was nice to get a round of applause from their players at the end.”

3rd Team (Report by Sol Buckner)
Bromsgrove 7 - 1 Kingswinford
Goal Scorer: Chris Rawlings

CHRIS Rawlings second goal of the season was the only highlight of another mauling at high-flying Bromsgrove. Kings keeper Liam Smith was under seige from the off and was forced to pick the ball out of the net twice within the first five minutes. Fielding several new players Kings fought gallantly but could not repel the onslaught. The hosts scored a third just before the break to put them in complete control. Skipper Sol Buckner's half-time pep talk appeared to do the trick as he set up Rawlings for a tap in on 49 minutes. But despite five minutes of pressure Kings could not find another break through and conceded four more goals in the process. The team welcomes Bloxwich to The Dell Stadium on Saturday with a 4pm push-back.

Badgers (Report by Tom Hickman)
Kingswinford 0 - 4 West Bromwich

Kingswinford made a fiery start to the game with the forward players getting into space but without troubling the opposition goalkeeper. K’ford went behind to a goal about 5 minutes before half time. After a quick team talk K’ford tried to get back into the game with a goal but there was drama at the other end. West Brom scored from a disputed penalty flick followed by two further goals and K’ford had their only attempted shot shortly after the forth. Another good performance by K’ford but on the day they just couldn't score.

Stafford 4 - 7 Kingswinford
Goal Scorers: Happi Hundal (2), Sarj Takhar, Ravi Johal (2), Gavi Singh, Rumy Bains

Many of Kingswinford's team arrived late for this fixture due to problems on M6. Not having a proper warm-up cost Kings dear and they were 2-0 down within 10 minutes. Kingswinford started to get into the match after this and Harpreet Hundal won and converted a penalty flick. Sarj Takhar then finished from an acute angle to level the match. A mistake by the normally solid Mark Stevenson cost Kingswinford another goal. Kingswinford levelled the match and added another through Veteran Super Striker Ravi Johal. The second half Kingswinford played with confidence & ease. Further goals were added by Gavi Singh, Harpreet & Rumy Bains to make it 7-3. As is the tradition in recent weeks Kingswinford switched off in the final 5 minutes allowing Stafford to sneak a goal in and make it 7-4 to Kingswinford.
Man of The Match - Ravi Johal

Kingswinford 4 - 1 Kidderminster
Goal Scorers: Chris Rawlings, Steve Leonard, Micky Hinton, Paul Groves

TWO goals in ten minutes sent Kings on their way to an impressive first win of the season in the BodyKraft West Midlands league two. Chris Rawlings tapped in Paul Groves' cross on five minutes and Steve Leonard combined with Groves to fire home the second on 10 minutes. Micky Hinton rifled home the third on 25 minutes rifling in from the top of the D to give Kings a stranglehold on the game. Kidderminster fought back in the second half and grabbed a goal on 45 minutes with a lucky deflection. But that only inspired Kings to hunt for more goals and on the hour Groves finished off a goalmouth scramble for the fourth. Defensive lynch-pin Chris Hancocks won man-of-the-match with a superb display at rightback. Skipper Sol Buckner said: "If we play like that every week we will cause teams a lot of problems. "We had a great start and the team effort was fantastic."

Kingswinford 5 - 3 Oswestry
Goal Scorers: Happi Hundal (3), Chris Brown, Sarj Takhar

A HARPREET Hundal hat-trick helped Kingswinford to a hard-fought win over Oswestry and bring the team out of negative points. Three straight wins has now cancelled out the nine point deduction imposed by the league during the summer. Stout defending by the visitors kept Kings out until the 25th minute when Hundal rifled home a well-worked short corner. Minutes before the break the inform striker powered home a second to make it 2-0. In the second half, Oswestry fought back breaking through Kings defence to make it 2-1. Kings immediately replied when Chris Brown jinked into the D to unleash an unstoppable shot for Kings third. Minutes later Sarj Takhar collected Kaza Purewal's reverse stick pass to rifle home from 10 yards out. Hundal completed his hat-trick on 67 minutes with a well-worked solo effort. The visitors managed a consolation but the points were in the bag for Billu Sandhu's side. Kingswinford travel for a tough match next week to Stafford for a 1pm pushback.

2nd Team (Report by Sol Buckner)
Wednesbury 9 - 0 Kingswinford

POOR organisation and discipline handed Kingswinford a thumping at local rivals Wednesbury. Teenage keeper Liam Smith was forced to pick the ball out his net twice in the opening 15 minutes as the home side ripped through Kings defence. Rajinder Sehmbi was sent off for dissent on 25 minutes leaving Kings midfield exposed on several occasions. Despite several changes the second half went from bad to worse with Wednesbury laying seige on King's goal. Seven more goals were rifled past hapless Smith before the umpire's whistle finally blew to end a very sorry away day.

Aston University 1 - 8 Kingswinford
Goal Scorers: Gavi Singh (4), Happi Hundal (2), Ravi Johal (2)

Kingswinford were missing three regular players for this match and fielded one injured player. However, Kingswinford's early worries were settled when Ravi Johal tapped in a simple cross from Sarj Takhar on 6 minutes. The goals then came thick and fast for Kingswinford when Gavi slotted home on 12 & 16 minutes. Gavi's third goal was pure poetry - He collected the ball in Kings half and made a couple of one-two's with Takhar before firing an unstoppable shot past the Aston University keeper. Instead of picking up the pace - Kingswinford then settled into a more slow tempo game.
Further goals were added by Ravi, Harpreet & Gavi in the second half. Aston stole a consolation late on and this was the least they deserved for their hard running & tackling. Gavi Singh was chosen as man of the match. Billu Sandhu (Kings Manager) quoted '' We played well in the first half but the second half was disappointing as we let our high standard of hockey drop - but sometimes that is to be expected. Against stronger sides we will have to play good hockey for 70 minutes !!''.
Kingswinford take on Oswestry next week at the Dell for 2:30pm.

2nd Team (Report by Sol Buckner)
Kingswinford 0 - 2 Finchfield

AN UNDERSTRENGTH second side paid the price against local rivals Finchfield. Captain Dulla Sandhu was forced to field a mixture of veterans and inexperienced youth to take on the Wolverhampton side. And they were made to pay early on when the visitors broke through to take the lead. On 25 minutes the vistors grabbed a second when they cut throught the defence once again. And things went from bad to worse when Andy Cutler saw a yellow card for repeated dissent to the umpire. In the second half, the vistors failed to break through Sandhu's brilliantly marshalled defence. Despite several forays into Finchfield's defence, Kings could not find a way through.

3rd Team
(Report by Sol Buckner)
Kingswinford 1 - 5 Stone
Goal Scorer: Billy Sandhu

POOR fitness and discipline dealt Kings a convincing defeat at The Dell. Stand-in keeper Chris Rawlings was left picking the ball out of the net twice within the first 10 minutes after the visitors were gifted two simple tap-ins. A stern half-time team talk by captain Sol Buckner did little to improve the run of play. And Kings knew it was not their day when promising teenage striker James Wheeler was taken to hospital with a nasty cut lip. Two more goals followed before Kings finally woke up thanks to the introduction of Kuldip Randhawa. The veteran midfield maestro beat three men before picking out Buckner who found Billy Sandhu free in acres of space. The hard-working winger cracked home his first of the season from 10 yards to give Kings a much needed lift. But Rawlings had to pick the ball out the net a fifth time on 65 minutes after Stone piled on more misery. Captain Buckner said: "Stone's youngsters were the difference. "We need to be fitter and more hungry if we're going to get anything out of this season. "After almost beating Pershore the previous week this defeat was hard to take. Thankfully young James was not seriously hurt."

Kingswinford 5 - 2 Aldridge
Goal Scorers: Chris Brown (2), Sarj Takhar, Harpreet Hundal, Gavi Singh

Kingswinford first team got their West Midlands League 2 campaign off to a flyer with a five-star performance against Aldridge. Two goals from man of the match Chris Brown helped the Blues to a comfortable win over their local rivals at the Dell. Brown grabbed his first on 15 minutes after rounding the keeper to finish from close range. Then neat passing lead to Harpreet Hundal reverse sticking the ball into the net. In the second half Kings rallied again and Gavi Singh scored his debut league goal for the club. Brown then scored his second after some neat passing between Sonny Matharu, Kaz Purewal and Gavi Singh to make it 4-0. Aldridge caused a brief scare when they scored two goals in 10 minutes of pressure. But Sarj Takhar then finished off the visitors firing home from close range to round off a solid team performance. Team captain Billu Sandhu said: "I am very pleased with the performance. The hard work in training and pre-season preparation paid off."

Pershore 2 - 1 Kingswinford
Goal Scorer: Fergus Forsyth

TEENAGE starlet Fergus Forsyth's smart goal was not enough to see off a determined Pershore side. Against the backdrop of the stunning Malvern Hills in possibly the league's most impressive venue, Kings made a perfect start to the game. Steve Leonard deputising in goal made a string of heroic saves to keep the home side firmly shut out and earn man-of-the-match. And after laying siege on Pershore's goal through a series of short corners, it was a superb three man move involving Billy Sandhu, Dean Holyoake and Forsyth which opened the scoring on 25 minutes. Going into the break, Kings were forced to shuffle the side round which resulted in a poor restart. Within minutes, Pershore equalised on the break after leaving the defence in disarray. Kings held firm looking for the draw but were left ruing their chances after Pershore bagged a second on the break on 55 minutes. Striker Chris Hancocks had a golden chance to equalise at the death but failed to control the ball. Skipper Sol Buckner said: "It was hard work in the heat but we put up a good fight. We should have come away with at least a point." Kings entertain Stone at the Dell on Saturday (Oct 6) with a 4pm push back.

Kingswinford 0 - 4 Solihull Blossomfield

An unlucky opening defeat for K’ford while showing a good performance. K’ford started well by playing some attacking hockey. Twenty-five minutes in Solihull scored. The score remained this way until the end of the first half.
After a team talk K’ford tried to score but ended up conceding three including an unlucky own goal from Thomas Hickman. Chances were good for K’ford but just couldn’t score.

Barford Tigers 2nd's 3 - 5 Kingswinford
Goal Scorers: Ravi Johal (4), Azad Akhtar

Kingswinford were up against a very strong Barford Tigers 2nd X1. Kingswinford were reinforced with new signings Harpreet Hundal & Gavi Singh. Billu Sandhu started with an experimental formation of 2-3-1-4 which worked a treat. Kaz Purewal was asked to play in the holding midfielder role and he played the game of his career so far. Kingswinford weathered an early storm with Kaz protecting the Defence with some strong running & tackling. Halfway into the first half Kingswinford new boy Gavi went on a solo run and having entered the D, passed to Ravi Johal to tap in. The second goal came from an incredible 40 yard pass from Sarj Takhar for Ravi to fire in from D Top. A third was added by Ravi after some neat passing between Chris Brown & Harpreet. The break could not come quick enough for a shell shocked Barford !!

Barford applied some pressure early in the second half and this paid off for them as Kingswinford were caught asleep on two occasions. Kingswinford then added a 4th after a solo run from Sarj (back to his normal self) & a neat pass to Azad to tap in. Ravi who had been substituted, for a rest, came on in the last 10 minutes to put the match beyond Barford at 5-2. Barford added a final goal in the dying seconds of the match to make the scoreline look respectable for them. The Kings Manager commented: ' We played excellent today - that's 4 weeks of hard work in Training & in the Pre-Season Matches to get the Team playing like that. Kingswinford have beaten a very very good Barford Team'. Kingswinford start their League campaign next week against old rivals Aldridge. Stand in skipper Sarj Takhar said 'We used to play Aldridge in the Premier League a few years ago and give them a good match. Hopefully it will be the same with the result going our way'.

Kingswinford 2 - 4 North Notts
Goal Scorers: Richard Turner, Harpreet Hundal

Kingswinford were required to punch above their weight in this fixture and they certainly did that. North Notts are technically 3 leagues above Kingswinford & they came to the Dell for a easy pre-season friendly. Kingswinford defence conceded 4 goals in the first half (2 of them wicked deflections) but overall 'Super Veteran' Sati Takhar & 'Young Gun' Richard Brown did very well. Mark Stevenson justified his selection in the 1st X1 by pulling out a string of super saves. When he was beaten it was through 2 wicked deflections & 2 silly errors. Kingswinford had 4 regular first team players missing today and this showed in the first half when everybody was adjusting to each others game. There was no purposeful attack. Chris Rawlings found life hard in a first team environment & Sarj Takhar was under the weather (he could not even gather the energy to argue with the umpire after a very bad decision went against him !!).

Second half was all Kingswinford and they were unfortunate not to score more. Richard Turner popped up to score yet again for Kingswinford (Only player to score every season for Kingswinford in last 25 years !) Happi Singh added a cool second from a short corner. Manager Billu Sandhu Commented: 'We played a team 3 leagues higher than us - and we should be proud of this performance. With the missing players coming - we could have won this match. The Team is improving match by match and we will be ready when the league starts'.

Kingswinford take on Barford Tigers 2nds next week in the final pre-season friendly. This is always a exciting fixture and more so this year as Barford will field a number of Ex-Kingswinford players. In some cases it will be the first time they will play for Kingswinford !

Kingswinford 1 - 3 West Bromwich
Goal Scorer: Ravi Johal

With the League starting in a couple of weeks this tough friendly was organised with our local rivals West Brom HC. A new look Kings Team took to the field. Regulars Chris Brown, Richard Brown, Sarj Takhar, Ravi Johal, Kaz Purewal & Sonny Matharu were joined with recalled veterans Sati Takhar, Hari Singh & Dulla Sandhu. New Signing Happi Hundal also joined the squad.
Billu Sandhu the team manager asked for a performance that would be in the traditions of this great hockey playing club. The emphasis was on playing 'Good Attractive Hockey' with the results not important today. Kings definitely did this.
Although they lost 1-3 a fairer result would have been 6-3 to Kings. Some fantastic hockey resulted in 4 easy chances that Kingswinford could not convert. They were also denied a definite penalty by a biased WB umpire. Ravi Johal scored a wonderful strike from a pass by Happi. Kings will play another friendly with a team from 2 leagues higher next week and will be reinforced with 2 further players returning/joining the club.
